Stuff to do and see

Hire a bike Veloline Berlin good for sight seeing. We cycled over to East Side Gallery where a section of the wall still stands. Then back along the river Spree and along Unter den Linden to the Brandenburg Gate.

Look out for the pink and blue Tubes which run throughout Berlin.

Nearby to the gate there is the Holocaust Memorial designed by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold.

Coffee shops

Kaffeemitte – good place to sit in the window and people watch, nice cakes
Zeit fur brot – modern but homely interior good for sitting and reading the paper / looking at maps (as we did a lot of)
Base_camp – part of a shop but a good place for coffee in a more central area. The first two were situated in an area with cool looking coffee shops on every corner.

Food and bars

Fleischmöbel – small trendy casual place full of retro furniture.
Dr. Pong – bar mit ping pong
White Trash – rock and roll gigs – burgers and chips. fun place
Il Casorle – for punk pizza
Devil’s Kitchen – nice bar with German, Polnish, Dutch… beers and amazing Shakshuka
8mm – cool bar – dark – good whisky sours. they have old films projected throughout the evening
Bassy Cowboy Club – i liked this lots. We went to see a blues band. small venue – amazing haircuts.
Yaam – outdoors bar and festival area. There’s a beach area for summer. We had a coffee in a little ‘dubpub’ shack.
Yamyam – Korean food – half restaurant half take away.. casual
Berghain – we didn’t go to the club but to a Tropics gig at Kantine am Berghain.
Currywurst – I’d never had this before. it is good. I will be having it again next time.
