damn fine weekend.  love cycling love wine.  active, lots of hills, countryside, vineyards, seaside and pubs.  bloody good pub food at The Bell on the last day and on day two we cycled through Rye three times it was so beautiful (and because we were lost looking for pub lunch), I can fully recommend the old sweet shop for knock-your-socks-off lemon sherbets (useful fuel for any uphill cycling).  went with a small group of friends but also enjoyed getting to know the other half of our group over lunch time beers, evening meals and map reading.  particularly enjoyed the tour and wine tasting given by Rowland at Carr Taylor vineyard, very articulate and clearly passionate about the wines and family business.  on both evenings we bought the wines we liked the most for drinking during dinner, Carr Taylor Bacchus and Sedlescome English Sparkling Champagne proved popular.  It was nice to hear a little on how Wine Rides came to be when Alex joined us on the second evening and while we filled up on apple crumble he lit up the chimenea for everyone to sit and chat around late into the evening.
